After the Catlins, we planned on stopping on the way to do some more camping but didn’t really find anything cool so we drove straight through to Dunedin, the south island’s college town. We met up with Steven’s other 2 kids, Abe and Ellie. Abe’s wife Deb is in med school and so he’s currently a stay at home dad, hanging out with their adorable 1 year old son, Judah. Abe is a botanist and managed to find an amazing house that has a gigantic garden with all sorts of edible things. It really just keeps going and going and has every kind of fruit and vegetable you could want! The garden was set up already when they bought the house so they just have to maintain it, although just maintaining it is a serious job. We hung out with Abe and Judah a bunch which was real nice. It had been a while since I hung out with a baby, and Judah is very social and generally a super happy baby. Abe is also the president of Dunedin NORML and is working for marijuana law reform and to promote Dunedin as a marijuana friendly city. He’s kind of the Dunedin pot smoker icon… We also hung out with Ellie who just started university and her friends one night who were really fun. Hey Emma, your cousins are awesome! Go visit them!
